15 % of new easyJet pilots are women

easyJet, Europe’s leading company, has reached a key milestone in its goal of having 20 % of new pilots entering the company – cadets – by 2020, reaching the 15 % level this year.

This progress comes at a time when only 5 % of pilots worldwide are women, according to the International Society of Women Airline Pilots.

On the other hand, only just over 450 of them have reached the captain’s rank, which means that almost all of them could fit in an A380.

« When we had lance, the initiative to attract more female pilots in October 2015, we had only 6 % women in our workforce.

Following our campaign in 2016, easyJet doubled its percentage of female pilots, which has continued to grow since then, with the goal of reaching 20 % by 2020.

When we set our 20 % target, we thought it would be the equivalent of 50 pilots, but given our growth, we have already attracted more than 50 pilots this year and now have more than 200 female pilots in easyJet, » explains Johan Lundgren, easyJet’s CEO.
