The Jerusalem Festival of Lights celebrates its 10th anniversary

From 27 June to 5 July 2018, the tenth edition of the Festival of Lights will be held in the Old City of Jerusalem. Over the years, the festival has attracted over 10 million visitors from Israel and around the world. At nightfall, the city becomes the theatre of shows mixing sounds, lights, artistic shows and performances of dance and modern art. The play of lights will then reveal the city with 4 000 years of History under a fairytale angle.
Four rich and communicating itineraries will invite the public to stroll through the narrow streets of the old town, discovering the many cobbled walls and streets, lit by more than thirty-five luminous and interactive installations. An enchanting device created by local and international artists.
The public will be able to influence the colour and appearance of the installations through touch, triggering sound and light effects that attract crowds of visitors.
On the programme for this 2018 edition: Spectacular works of art by Israeli and international artists will await visitors to the « Festival of Lights ».
More than 700 weather vanes and 40 luminous silhouettes from different periods will be installed throughout the old town, as well as a breathtaking audiovisual show projected on the Hurva synagogue will await visitors.
The atmosphere will be magical with the presence of a giant cloud of lit butterflies symbolizing happiness and freedom.
Visitors will be able to stroll through a forest of colourful trees composed of 1,900 branches and discover water walls, nearly 10 metres high, as well as dozens of other installations dotting the city of Jerusalem for this unique event.
