Luxury Hotels: The Hemingways Collection Opens in Rwanda

The Hemingways Collection strengthens its presence in luxury hospitality in East Africa by announcing the acquisition of the Hemingways Retreat Kigali in Rwanda. This expansion marks a major milestone for the family business, which boasts over 40 years of experience operating high-end properties in Kenya (cities, reserves, and the northeast coast).

The Kigali property, previously known as The Retreat, was founded by Alissa and Josh Ruxin in 2018.

This five-star boutique hotel is renowned for its understated luxury, offering twenty rooms, including eight luxury villas with private pools, and is home to the gourmet restaurant « Fusion, » renowned for its farm-to-table cuisine.

In addition to the Rwandan establishment, the Hemingways Collection has also acquired the Hemingways River Camp Mara in the famous Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya.

Hemingways is committed to continuing the legacy left by its founders in Kigali.

Since its opening, The Retreat has had a lasting impact on the local community and the Rwandan tourism sector, notably by training and employing more than 3,000 Rwandans.

The Hemingways Collection takes over with the aim of maintaining this strong community commitment.
