Fire Horse in the Maldives: Sun Siyam celebrates the Lunar New Year between Tradition and Modernity

The Maldivian hotel group Sun Siyam is transforming its archipelagos into festive sanctuaries to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2026, placing the Year of the Fire Horse under the sign of prestige and escape within its Luxury, Privé, and Lifestyle collections.

From February 15 to 20, 2026, a carefully crafted program invites international travelers to immerse themselves in a unique cultural fusion, where the spirit of island life meets millennia-old Asian traditions through one-of-a-kind sensory experiences.

One of the most striking moments of this program is the live show combining DJ sets inspired by the latest Chinese urban trends with the timeless sound of the guzheng, a traditional stringed instrument whose crystalline melodies blend with contemporary electronic rhythms to create an atmosphere suspended between two worlds.

The festivities reach their peak with the Chaozhou Shantou Lion Dance Troupe, whose vibrant and acrobatic performances, rooted in ancient folklore, parade along the white sand beaches to bring good fortune and prosperity to the residents.

Beyond the spectacle, guests are encouraged to interact by learning a few traditional dance steps or participating in calligraphy and gastronomy workshops, including gala dinners where symbolic Chinese New Year dishes are reimagined with local seafood.

This exclusive celebration at Sun Siyam is more than just a calendar festivity; it embodies a desire to create lasting cultural bridges, offering families a luxurious setting to honor their roots while enjoying the turquoise serenity of the Maldives, making the Year of the Fire Horse a vintage year of dynamism and shared conviviality.
