Nudist cruises: The Norwegian Pearl kicks things off

The Norwegian Pearl departed PortMiami last Monday, marking the start of the 2026 edition of the renowned « Big Nude Cruise » organized by Bare Necessities, an institution that has been shaping the world of naturist cruising for over 35 years.

This ship, chartered for the occasion, is setting sail for the crystal-clear waters of the Southern Caribbean and the Bahamas, promising its passengers a break from absolute freedom with dreamlike ports of call such as Ocho Rios in Jamaica, Oranjestad in Aruba, Willemstad in Curaçao, and Kralendijk in Bonaire.

Before returning to Florida, the cruise ship will also make two strategic stops on the private island of Great Stirrup Cay, where nudity remains the norm on the fine sandy beaches, illustrating the operator’s motto: « Relax under the palm trees, wearing nothing but a smile. »

The ship’s internal regulations offer rare flexibility, allowing passengers to move about naked as they please in most areas, although rules of etiquette and safety are strictly enforced.

Therefore, wearing clothes is once again mandatory during port calls, during official receptions hosted by the captain, and in the main dining rooms and specialty restaurants for reasons of hygiene and prestige.

Particular attention is paid to cleanliness: Bare Necessities requires the systematic use of a towel when sitting on any exposed skin, providing stacks of towels throughout the ship, except in common areas.
