Dubai establishes emergency protocols for accommodating stranded travelers

Faced with the historic paralysis of global air traffic caused by the escalation of the regional conflict, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has taken exceptional measures to manage the stay of the thousands of visitors unable to return to their home countries.

Reaffirming that the safety and well-being of travelers is the “highest priority of the UAE,” the authorities have officially activated coordinated response protocols across the emirate.

In a press release issued yesterday, Monday, March 9, 2026, the Department formally invited the entire hotel sector, via email, to support affected customers by facilitating the extension of their stays at the rates of their initial bookings, thus preventing any price speculation during this crisis.

This directive is accompanied by close collaboration between the Department of Tourism and service providers to guarantee the stability and continuity of essential services throughout the city, despite the surrounding geopolitical tensions.

By mobilizing this integrated approach between public and private stakeholders, Dubai intends to demonstrate once again its agility and resilience in the face of global crises, ensuring continuous assistance and service standards maintained at their highest level for both residents and visitors.
