American Airlines in great danger, according to its competitor United

Scott Kirby, the CEO of United Airlines, has just publicly stated that his competitor, American Airlines, will cease to be one of the largest airlines and that its viability is at stake, particularly at Chicago O’Hare, its main hub in the United States.

Kirby participated in an episode of « Airlines Confidential, » an online show, where he was asked how he envisioned the future of the airline industry in ten years.

True to his outspoken nature, Kirby explained that at that time, he saw two major airlines: Delta and United, of course.

Pressed on his comments, he added: “There are two today, and there will always only be two. The others will compete for the traffic we don’t serve.”

He then emphasized that American’s problem lies precisely at Chicago O’Hare, where he believes United will eventually exclude them due to the impossibility of absorbing the losses.
