Tourism in Peru: Machu Picchu will close at 2pm between March 26 and 28


To ensure the safety of tourists at the country’s most visited archaeological site, the Inca citadel will close at 2 p.m. from March 26 to 28, due to maintenance work on the accesses and track of the Hiram Bingham train.

For ticket exchanges and information, PROMPERÚ provides its Tourist Information and Assistance Offices (Iperú) at Cusco Airport, Place d’Armes in Cusco and Machu Picchu Pueblo, and 24 hours a day on iperu@promperu.gob.pe, by phone at (511) 574-8000 and via WhatsApp (511) 944 492 314.

Star Peru heading north

An increasingly popular destination, Northern Peru will be served by Star Peru.

The Peruvian airline has been connecting Lima to Cajamarca since March 18 with a daily flight from Lima at 5:15 am / 6:35 am and 3:20 pm / 4:40 pm and from Cajamarca at 7:25 am / 8:45 am and 5:10 pm / 6:30 pm. From 15 April, the Lima – Chiclayo route will be available every day at the following times, departing from Lima at 6:20 and 7:45 am and from Chiclayo at 8:30 and 9:45 am.
