The Mediterranean becomes everyone’s business, a threat of 500 tons

The sea is saturated.
The Mediterranean Sea is the world’s leading tourist destination and is therefore at the forefront of the damage caused by waste, particularly plastic and cigarette butts. For local authorities, the challenge is crucial to ensure the attractiveness of their territory, the well-being of the inhabitants and their economic activity. Protecting the sea from plastic waste and cigarette butts is therefore not only an ecological necessity but also a civic one. However, although the subject is unanimously accepted, it is not always obvious to implement it.

Butts alone account for 40% of all waste found in the sea. This high figure shows the urgent need for massive action and awareness. Our coastline is fragile and must be protected.

Holidaymakers are the first to be able to act, which is why they are the priority target of the coastal conservation campaign.
A strong visual appeal on social networks supported by the very active Project Rescue Ocean community. Changing mentalities through an educational approach is the announced objective of the campaign. « Far from moralizing clichés, we wish above all to raise the collective consciousness. Everyone’s efforts are necessary to the success of this great project, it is through small efforts that plastic waste and cigarette butts will decrease. This awareness is part of a long-term educational approach where « harmless » actions can allow vacationers to enjoy the sun while participating in a major challenge for our planet: that of the Ocean. You can also raise awareness by sharing the hashtags #lamersature and #preservelamer, to protect the 1000 kilometres of coastline around the Mediterranean.
