Since 1959, the Chicago Air and Water Show, the largest free show in the United States, has become an annual summer tradition on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Every year, more than 2.2 million people gather to admire aircraft pirouettes (Navy Blue Angels and U.S. Force Thunderbirds), controlled parachute jumps, helicopter firefighter prowess demonstrations and an air show by pilot Bill Stein…
To admire the show, several options: bring your beach towel or deckchair and go to North Avenue Beach. Book at the Shore Club (from $125), to enjoy the event as a VIP (open bar, brunch, private cabins on the beach…).
To seek a little privacy, the curious will reserve a space at the Castaways Bar and Grill while budding sailors will opt for a boat tour proposed by one of the many cruise operators in the city.
Finally, 360 Chicago and The Ledge will welcome spectators who want to get a 360° view of the show.
