Dallas becomes the official city of Margarita

The Dallas Tourist Board has launched an innovative new urban itinerary, the Margarita Mile.

With the « Margarita Mile Dallas TX » application launched this month, Dallas becomes the official city of Margarita. The application, which lists and locates the bars serving the best margaritas in the city, allows cocktail lovers to discover the riches of the different districts of Dallas while stopping in a selection of trendy bars to taste their favourite drink, discover new variants and establish their own ranking.

The circuit, intended for both visitors and residents, testifies to the strong historical ties between the city and America’s most famous crushed ice cocktail. We owe the first frosted margarita machine to a local restaurant owner, Mariano Martinez.

Created in 1971, the margarita machine has always stirred the imagination of the city’s bartenders. The machine is now on display at the National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C., which is no small feat.

In Dallas, you can find margaritas of all kinds, made of surprising and detonating mixtures: with liquid nitrogen, widely used in molecular gastronomy, with water ice flavor sangria or with mixtures of spices based on Mexican jalapenos peppers. The drink even has the little emotional name of « Rita ».
