Over the past decade (2015-2024), air traffic control (ATC) delays in Europe have doubled (+114%), according to a recent analysis by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which excludes delays caused by adverse weather conditions and strikes. Capacity limitations and staff shortages are the root cause of most of these delays, problems that have been known for some time, the organization stated, but which « have not been sufficiently mitigated, » particularly in France and Germany.

Air Europa has confirmed that due to the general strike taking place in Portugal this Thursday, December 11, it is canceling its flights between Spain and Lisbon and Porto. Specifically, the airline had scheduled a total of eight flights between Madrid and Porto, the same number of frequencies it offered for its flights to Lisbon. Consequently, the airline is offering a flexible solution to affected passengers. Customers can change their flight dates for bookings made up to and including December 18, change their itinerary up to that same date, or, if applicable, request a voucher for future purchases or a refund.

Air Europa also confirmed that, given the situation in Venezuela, it will extend the flight restriction between Madrid and Caracas until December 19.

Pegasus Airlines has taken a significant step in its international expansion strategy by signing an agreement to acquire Czech Airlines and its subsidiary Smartwings, the leading leisure operator in the Czech Republic. The transaction, valued at €154 million, covers both airlines and their receivables and is subject to regulatory approval.

The Lufthansa Group has just unveiled its new visual identity, highlighting its strengths.

This change is accompanied by an evolution in its communication: customers will now see that all the services offered fall under the Group’s umbrella, making it clearer and more easily identifiable. Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of the Lufthansa Group, states that the company is « evolving from a group of airlines to an aerospace group. The new visual identity is much more than a simple redesign. In the current context, this step aims to create a visual benchmark that inspires confidence in our customers. » The new visual identity, which retains the iconic crane, will now be used by the Lufthansa Group, without the circle that previously surrounded it. It will also include a new typeface and a new color palette, enriched with six new shades.
The Group’s airlines will maintain their individual identities under the umbrella of the new Group image. Furthermore, the phrase « Member of the Lufthansa Group » will appear as a distinctive emblem on all the company’s aircraft, thus highlighting the individuality of each airline operating under a name different from Lufthansa.

APG Airlines – GP 275 welcomes Berniq Airways (NB) as a new interline partner and member of its interline ticket portfolio. Their flights are listed in the GDS under flight code A1.

Furthermore, APG has been appointed General Sales Agent for Xiamen Airlines in Jordan, strengthening the Chinese airline’s commercial presence and providing dedicated sales and marketing support to local travel industry stakeholders.

Iberia and China Southern Airlines signed a codeshare agreement in Madrid, enhancing connectivity between China, Europe, and Latin America. The new direct Guangzhou-Madrid route, operated by China Southern, will be the cornerstone of this cooperation. Through this flight and the collaboration between the two airlines, Iberia customers will be able to connect to major Chinese cities via Guangzhou, while passengers from China will have access to Iberia’s extensive network in Spain, Europe, and Latin America.

Air Antilles has been informed of the decision by the French Civil Aviation Authority (DSAC) to temporarily suspend its Air Operator Certificate (AOC).

This measure follows an audit conducted from December 2nd to 4th, 2025, which identified several documentary and organizational checks that must be completed within a short timeframe.
