What is Bertrand Piccard, Solar Impulse founder & CEO, suffering from ?

Bertrand Piccard made history by circumnavigating the globe in a non-stop balloon, a record-breaking flight in both duration and distance. He then completed a round-the-world trip aboard the Solar Impulse aircraft, covering 43,000 km without fuel, to demonstrate the potential of renewable energies.

A Legacy of explorers

From a legendary lineage of scientists and explorers (who have conquered the stratosphere and the abyss), innovation and ecology are in his blood.

He uses his achievements to further his causes, seeking solutions for a better quality of life and environmental protection.

The Solar Impulse Foundation and Solutions for the Planet

Following the success of Solar Impulse, his foundation has identified over 1,000 environmentally sound and financially viable solutions.

With the goal of promoting these solutions to governments and businesses to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Bertrand Piccard is troubled by the human condition, which often pits growth against ecology.

He is a psychiatrist by training, which gives him a unique perspective.

As a psychiatrist, he knows that it is counterproductive to ask people to give up modern comforts to combat climate change.

He proposes « qualitative growth » as a third way, reconciling ecology and the economy, to escape the dilemma between social chaos (degrowth) and ecological disaster (infinite growth).
