London opens David Bowie museum

Since September 13th, a museum in London has permanently housed David Bowie’s personal archives, containing over 90,000 objects. Visitors can plan an individual visit with the exhibits to discover them up close and in a small group.

The David Bowie Centre’s archives include handwritten lyrics, drawings, costumes, photos, letters, musical instruments, set lists, and sketches.

Some of the late artist’s unrealized projects are also on display, ranging from album ideas to films and never-completed tours.

A Gold Mine

More specifically, the David Bowie Centre is unveiling a wealth of never-before-seen objects from the artist’s archives, including one of Bowie’s last Ziggy Stardust guitars, costumes for The Next Day and Blackstar, and puppets designed by Jim Henson from a previously unseen music video.

Nine rotating mini-exhibitions feature approximately 200 key works, while guest-curated selections from Nile Rodgers and The Last Dinner Party offer an intimate glimpse into Bowie’s collaborations and creative process.
