In the presence of Caroline Proulx, Quebec Minister of Tourism, many elected officials, partners and professionals from the Quebec tourism industry, Henri Giscard d’Estaing, President of Club Med and Daniel Gauthier, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Groupe Le Massif, laid the first stone of the future Club Med resort in Canada, Club Med Québec Charlevoix, which will welcome its first customers on December 5, 2020.
Club Med Québec Charlevoix
Club Med management explains that this resort will showcase local culture through its design and the activities it will offer.
The design of the room is inspired by the surrounding landscape: the motifs of a winter white, twilight blue or cardinal red evoke comfort, warmth and local spirit.
Canada’s cultural heritage has also been a great source of inspiration, and guests staying at Club Med Québec Charlevoix will be immersed in the history of the province and the country.
Construction is currently in the coating stage of the main building. Once completed, the 4-Trident resort will have 302 rooms for families and active couples, in addition to a luxurious Club Med Collection Exclusive space with high-end suites that will offer a breathtaking view of the river. The surface area of the Superior and Deluxe rooms will vary between 30 and 45 square metres.
« I am delighted to welcome Canada to the Club Med family. It is an honour and a privilege to mark this new milestone in the presence of elected officials, tourism industry professionals and businesses in the region, » said Henri Giscard d’Estaing, President of Club Med.
« We are pleased to unveil the design of the control room today. Thanks to our resorts in Asia, Europe and, now, North America, we are confirming our ambition to be the world leader in all-inclusive mountain holidays. We are pleased to settle in this exceptional region with its rich culture, and to create, directly and indirectly, more than 700 new jobs, by welcoming an international clientele . »
Significant economic benefits
This 80 million euro ($120 million Canadian) project will create a significant number of jobs in the Charlevoix region and increase the number of travellers passing through Québec City’s Jean-Lesage International Airport.
Club Med works closely with the airport to improve air traffic infrastructure in order to facilitate the development of tourism.
The increase in tourism activity will draw the world’s attention to Quebec and highlight the richness of the Charlevoix region, for the benefit of local visitors and international clients.
