Precisely six months before the inauguration of the MSC Grandiosa on November 9 in the port of Hamburg, MSC Cruises, the world’s largest private cruise company, leader in Europe, South America, South Africa and the Gulf countries, announced today that television star Michelle Hunziker will host the events that will take place during the official naming ceremony of the company’s new flagship.
Michelle Hunziker, world-renowned TV presenter, actress and singer, also hosted the naming ceremony of the MSC Seaview in Genoa in 2018. Michelle was born in Switzerland, grew up in Italy and speaks five languages. With her joie de vivre, she perfectly embodies MSC’s values cruises since it shares family values and an international spirit with a touch of Mediterranean.
The MSC Grandiosa is the third ship of the innovative Meraviglia class, and the first ship Meraviglia-Plus. It will also be the fifth new generation vessel launched by MSC Croisières in only two and a half years as part of the company’s investment plan, which amounts to 13.6 billion euros over more than ten years.
The MSC Grandiosa will be followed by 12 other vessels by 2027, including its sister ship, the MSC Virtuosa, which will be commissioned in October 2020.
The Meraviglia class ships have been designed around the needs of today’s guests. The extraordinary design as well as the wide range of installations and entertainment make these ideal ships for the whole family. Designed for all seasons, these vessels can call at any time of the year in most of the world’s international cruise ports.
The MSC Grandiosa will be the largest vessel in the MSC Cruises fleet, and the Meraviglia-Plus vessels are enriched prototypes, with more cabins, more public spaces and new features characteristics.
