Donald Trump passes a river law organizing air passenger rights

The U.S. Congress passed a bill on September 26 at 2:52 a.m. More precisely, a 1,200-page pavilion that defines and organizes the rights of American air passengers.

It is true that the project was ambitious. We provide you with a brief overview of the main provisions that should change the daily lives of air passengers using American carriers. This is only a first approach, we will have to study the applicable texts more closely.

The flight attendants’ schedules will have rest periods defined between their services.
The FAA Federal Aviation Administration, the US commercial air transport regulatory authority, will have to establish minimum standards for seat width and inclination. In such a way that the spacing between the seats is generally acceptable.

It will be prohibited to forcibly and violently expel a passenger who has already boarded a plane.
Electronic cigarettes will be banned on board.
Voice calls by mobile phone will be prohibited during flight.

Airlines will be obliged to reimburse passengers for services paid for and not provided.
A complementary law to determine the real and relevant causes when flights are delayed.
It will be prohibited to have animals travel in the cabin luggage compartment.

Requests the FAA to implement a priority boarding procedure for pregnant women.
Created, with the Weinstein effect in mind, a working group to study sexual harassment and reprehensible behaviour by airline staff.

Legal penalties for verbal or physical assaults on sales staff.
Seeks the advice of the FAA on whether or not to authorize supersonic flights over U.S. soil.

Authorizes the Department of Justice, Homeland Security and other federal agencies to shoot down private drones if they consider them to be threatening.
That’s a good start. It will be necessary to see how this law will be implemented in practice. But there will be a real legal basis. The promise of future procedures. That is the world today.
