Tourism : Kenya, an emblematic figure of Africa


The trip to Africa offers an opportunity for tourists from all over the world to discover the cultural and artistic richness of this continent. From north to south, from east to west, each African country bears witness to a great civilization and continues to pass on its heritage from generation to generation. Kenya is one of the emblematic figures of African countries when it comes to customs. The cradle of humanity, this country is home to about 42 nomadic ethnic groups from the Nile, Ethiopia and Kilimanjaro with an incredible diversity of landscapes, cultures, fauna and flora. Safari is indeed Kenya’s main attraction, with some of the most preserved reserves in the world.

Located in East Africa, bordered to the north by South Sudan and Ethiopia, Somalia to the east, Uganda to the west and Tanzania to the southwest and bathed by the Indian Ocean to the southeast, Kenya allows visitors to discover its customs and traditions while sharing cultural encounters and experiences with the natives. The most daring will even learn traditional dances in the heart of a small nomadic village.

In addition, on Lake Victoria, traditional fishermen who are demonstrating their work are still fascinating tourists. For information, the colonial heritage is still visible in hunting and even in the quest for adventure and freedom.

Born of many traditions from elsewhere, Kenyan culture is both dynamic and tolerant. Kenya is becoming a meeting place for African countries and attracts many tourists to its territory.

In northern Kenya, for example, there are preserved ethnic groups such as camel herders commonly known as the Rendiles, Samburu nomads who know the Maa dialect perfectly, not to mention the Turkanas, one of the oldest ethnic groups in the region. Around Lake Victoria live the Luos and Luhyas. As for the Maasai people, they are known for their warriors who are qualified as the most formidable in Africa. Each Kenyan community uses its own dialect and honours its traditions. The northern regions of Kenya are home to some tribes whose way of life is still very traditional, it is possible, especially through tour operators, to share a few days of the life of their tribes.

Kenya is also an excellent beach holiday destination, with several beautiful beaches located along the coastal regions and the city of Mombasa.

The country’s wilderness opens up for exploration. One or more excursions are required to Kenya’s mythical national parks: Mount Kenya (over 5000 metres above sea level) and Shaba Reserves, or the most famous of all, Massaï-Mara Park. The opportunity to observe animals other than in a zoo, in the heart of sumptuous African landscapes.

Finally, Kenya is the Safari with a list of large national parks like : Aberdare National Park, Amboseli National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park, Masai Mara National Park, Mount Kenya National Park, Nairobi National Park, Tsavo East National Park.

Kenya’s best restaurants are located in Nairobi, the country’s capital, as well as the largest variety of Kenyan, Indian, Brazilian, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, German and French cuisine. Many five-star hotels have excellent restaurants, which are expensive but worth a visit. Most of the restaurants are located in the downtown area and in the Westlands and Hurlingham neighbourhoods.
