The Swiss hotel group yesterday signed an agreement to manage an existing establishment in the coastal town, which it will relaunch under the Mövenpick brand during the year.
The Swiss hotel group has signed an agreement with the Société Touristique du Sud to manage Le Plaza Sfax & Spa Hotel, a high-end property located in the city centre, rue Khalid Ibn Walid, near the historic Medina, a few steps from the largest conference centre, Sfax International Fair, and only 10 km from Sfax-Thyna airport.
When the Mövenpick Hotel Sfax is inaugurated, it will be the fourth address of the group in Tunisia.
« This upcoming addition to our Tunisian portfolio will expand our regional footprint, confirming our presence in a new destination with strong growth potential, » said Andrew Langdon, Chief Development Officer, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts.
« Sfax is not only a historic city with Mediterranean charm, but also a booming business and commercial centre where the high-end hotel offer is relatively limited and business demand is strong. Operating a facility in a central location and with a large number of high-quality facilities will allow us to take advantage of these favourable market conditions, » he continues.
The 89-key, nine-storey building features contemporary architecture and a modern interior design concept inspired by nature, with open spaces and neutral, harmonious colours that create a relaxing atmosphere.
The hotel will include a large spa, swimming pool and fitness centre, as well as a ballroom and six meeting rooms, while three high-end restaurants will offer catering throughout the day, including a specialty restaurant on the roof with panoramic views of the city and the coast.
