Low-cost airline Vueling, flagship of the IAG group, has just unveiled « Objective 2035, » an unprecedented strategic plan backed by a record investment of €5 billion to boost its traffic from 40 to 60 million passengers annually over the next decade.
Under the leadership of Carolina Martinoli, this roadmap marks a historic turning point with a major technological transition involving the gradual phasing out of Airbus in favor of a fleet that aims to become 100% Boeing, a choice driven by a quest for homogeneity and absolute operational efficiency.
The first concrete step in this transformation will begin in the last quarter of 2026 with the integration of the first 50 Boeing 737 Max aircraft (versions 8-200 and 10) ordered by IAG, paving the way for a complete renewal of its current fleet of 130 aircraft, subject to achieving profitability targets.
By consolidating its Barcelona hub, where it already dominates the market with a 40% market share and 60 based aircraft, Vueling reaffirms its role as a socio-economic driver for Catalonia and Spain while strengthening its presence on strategic routes connecting the peninsula to the rest of Europe.
This ambitious project, which celebrates the twentieth anniversary of the company founded in 2004, is accompanied by a redesign of the customer value proposition and cutting-edge innovation initiatives, positioning Vueling not just as a low-cost carrier, but as a technological leader capable of reconciling massive growth and optimization of energy resources in a rapidly changing aviation sector.
