Dallas : The Latino Arts Project, the new museum of the Design district district

The Latino Arts Project opened its doors on May 5, 2019. Founded by Jorge Baldor (also owner of Mercado 369 in the Oak Cliff district), this museum is dedicated to South American arts and culture, with a particular focus on the local community.

The first exhibition Mexican Modern Sculpture: A Study of the Artists, highlights more than 90 modern Mexican sculptures to illustrate the aesthetic movement in Mexico, more commonly known as the Mexican School of Sculpture. Nine artists are highlighted, the latter wishing to emphasize the historical context of the Post-Revolution era during the 1920s and 1950s.

Visitors will therefore be able to discover, from the artists’ point of view, the issues of the time, including education, the place of mothers and women in society, as well as the avant-garde European Art Deco movement and its influence.
The museum also offers bilingual guided tours in English and Spanish for students, as well as community programs for adults and children.
