Top 10 most famous cities in music


Cities are not only composed of grey buildings and concrete streets. On the contrary, they are inexhaustible sources of inspiration for many artists. Whether for the stories they tell, the emotions they convey or the unforgettable memories they contain, a multitude of musicians celebrated their favourite cities in song. A few notes and a well chosen melody can thus be transformed into a real invitation to travel. But which cities are the most glorified in music ?

European ranking

After the four European cities in the world’s Top 10 Paris (20,007), London (14,805), Rome (11,859) and Berlin (6,267), Italy’s Milan (3,854) ranks fifth. It is followed by the capitals of Vienna (3 512), Amsterdam (3 324) and Madrid (2 890).

Finally, Venice (1,975) and Barcelona (1,773) are in ninth and tenth place.

World Ranking

New-York is the undisputed winner of the world ranking with 30,867 songs mentioning it! Paris (20,007) and London (14,805) complete the podium ahead of another European capital, Rome (11,859) – reinforcing the important place of the Old Continent in music.

Then there are New Orleans (8,798) and Miami (7,809), cities adored by producers, studios and artists from various backgrounds.

The seventh place goes to the German capital Berlin (6 267), ahead of Atlanta (4 834) and Houston (4 737).

The last place in this top 10 is awarded to the only non-American or European city in this ranking, the Japanese capital Tokyo (4,719).
