The Louvre curator has quantified the damages announced by the Paris prosecutor three days after the burglary. They are « extremely spectacular. »
Three days after the spectacular theft of a dozen pieces of jewelry (including a pearl tiara worn by Empress Eugénie in the 19th century, the necklace of Queen Marie-Amélie and Queen Hortense, etc.) from the Apollo Gallery of the Louvre Museum, the courts have nevertheless managed to assess the amount of the damages.
The Paris prosecutor announced that the value of the stolen goods was €88 million, based on an estimate made by the museum’s curator.

French authorities are racing against time to find the thieves who stole these priceless pieces, otherwise the jewels could be dismantled and illegally removed from the country.
