The UAE launches its train service between Abu Dhabi and the city of Fujairah

Mobility in the Middle East is shifting into high gear with the official launch—on June 30, 2026—of the United Arab Emirates’ first-ever national passenger rail network. This major achievement was realized ahead of schedule, less than five years after the project began.

This operational success is driven by the synergy within the Etihad Rail Mobility joint venture, combining the world-class infrastructure developed by the state-owned developer Etihad Rail with the international expertise of the French group Keolis, a global leader in public transport.

During its launch phase, the new network seamlessly connects the capital, Abu Dhabi, to the city of Fujairah. It will subsequently roll out its eco-friendly, connected train lines to 11 strategic cities and regions across the country, fostering sustainable connections between local communities.
