The iconic rooftop of the Venetian Hotel Gabrielli is making its grand return

Following its triumphant reopening in August 2025, the Hotel Gabrielli Venezia – Starhotels Collezione announces the reopening of its panoramic Gabrielli Rooftop Terrace for the summer season. Located atop the historic palazzo on the prestigious Riva degli Schiavoni, the terrace is once again one of Venice’s most enchanting spots: an ideal place to dine, enjoy drinks, and stroll, with breathtaking views of the lagoon, from the island of San Giorgio Maggiore to Punta della Dogana and the Lido.

This season marks a complete overhaul of the Gabrielli Rooftop Terrace’s signature cocktail menu, created by Head Bartender Diego Filippone, who draws inspiration from the hotel’s heritage and spirit.

The new menu is organized into four distinct chapters, each celebrating a different facet of the Hotel Gabrielli, its distinguished guests, its architecture, and its location on the lagoon. “The Illustrious” pays homage to the personalities who have stayed here, including Franz Kafka and Sigmund Freud, with cocktails such as Metamorfosi and Padre dell’Orda, inspired by Freud’s concept of the primal father.

“The Pillars” draws inspiration from the hotel’s most distinctive architectural elements—the quadriforated windows and the monumental entrance staircase—transposed into liquid form through creations like Quadrifora.

“The Brilliance” captures iconic moments and symbols of the hotel’s surroundings: from the legacy of the Orient Express to sunsets over the lagoon, with cocktails like Sunset and Viaggiatori.

The menu is complemented by a selection of elegantly crafted mocktails, inspired by forgotten Venetian words: Altana, the rooftop terrace that has always defined Venetian domestic life, and Furlane, the soft-soled slippers once worn by gondoliers—each evoking the timeless spirit of La Serenissima.

At the heart of this new narrative lies the Leone Alato, the hotel’s signature cocktail and an emblem of Venice: a blend of Carpano Classico red vermouth, Luxardo bitters, and lemon foam, reflecting the character of Gabrielli, a drink as bold and quintessentially Venetian as the winged lion from which it takes its name.

This year, the terrace takes a decisive step, establishing itself as a culinary destination in its own right. Guests can enjoy a structured gastronomic experience throughout the day.

Open from 11:00 AM to 10:30 PM, the restaurant offers a unique culinary experience, with the Chef present and live cooking demonstrations that extend the lagoon atmosphere outdoors.

The menu, created by Executive Chef Mirko Pistorello, showcases the finest products from the Venetian region and the Rialto Market, offering guests a refined yet relaxed Italian culinary journey.

Among the starters are a selection of raw fish—five varieties freshly caught in the Rialto—as well as tuna tartare with mango and bell pepper chutney, and classic Venetian cicchetti served with focaccia.

Main courses include spaghettini Gerardo di Nola with clams and parsley jelly, and fusilli with a three-tomato sauce and fresh ricotta.

Finally, the menu features fried seafood from the Rialto market, sea bass fillet with Bassano asparagus and lemongrass, and Venetian-style sirloin tagliata, completing a menu that embraces the full richness of Italian culinary tradition.
