Chicago is known as the music festival capital. From the sunny days, the music resounds in the four corners of the city. There is something for everyone as many styles of music are represented.

For 3 years, Chicago has celebrated House Music, born in the heart of the city in the 1980s. On the day’s program, DJ sets representing various styles of House. This year’s headliner will be Louie Vega and the Grammy Award winning group Elements of Life.

Chicago Gospel Music Festival
June 1-2 – Millennium Park and Chicago Cultural Center – free
Gospel music is an integral part of Chicago’s musical culture. For the 33rd consecutive year, local and national artists will be on stage. A special tribute will be paid to singer Edwin Hawkins (who passed away earlier this year) and his song « Oh Happy Day ».

Chicago Blues Festival
June 8 to 10 – Millennium Park – free
It is the largest music festival in Chicago where for three days and for 35 years, more than 500,000 visitors come to listen to the most famous blues artists. Bonnie Raitt, Ray Charles, B.B. King, Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy and Koko Taylor have already performed at this mythical festival.

Grant Park Music Festival
June 13 to August 18 – Millennium Park – free
Chicago also celebrates classical music. Throughout the summer, 32 concerts will take place on the stage of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in the heart of Millennium Park. This will be the perfect time to have a picnic while listening to a classical music concert hosted by the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.

Country Lakeshake Festival

Chicago SummerDance
Thursday to Sunday from June 28th to August 25th – Grant Park – free
During 2 months, Grant Park (and more particularly the Spirit of Music Garden) will be transformed into a giant dance floor of 455m². For the 22nd consecutive year, throughout the summer, visitors will be invited to dance to the sounds of 48 different concerts and take dance classes (swing, waltz, cha-cha…).
