Sun Siyam Vilu Reef unveils new overwater villas

Sun Siyam Vilu Reef has just unveiled its new Ocean Signature Villas with Pool and Slide in the Maldives at a launch event led by Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, founder and CEO of the Maldivian hotel group Sun Siyam.

A member of the group’s « Privé » collection, Sun Siyam Vilu Reef is enhancing its portfolio with 50 new overwater villas—branded as Ocean Signature Villas with Pool and Slide—comprising 48 one-bedroom villas and two two-bedroom villas.

This major development—the resort’s most significant in years—represents its boldest architectural and design statement to date.

It invites travelers into a world where relaxation and a playful spirit coexist harmoniously, elevated by warm Maldivian hospitality and experiences infused with authentic island elegance.

Designed for those seeking both space and connection, the Ocean Signature Villas boast prime lagoon views, offering uninterrupted panoramas from sunrise to sunset.

Whether traveling as a couple or a family, these villas provide an ideal setting that is perfect for both intimate moments and shared experiences.

Inside, every detail has been carefully considered. A discreet partition ensures privacy between areas, while a spacious living room featuring a 65-inch screen includes an integrated service area—perfect for enjoying in-villa dining.

Sculptural arches define the interior architecture, while a seamless layout naturally connects the bedroom, dressing area, and open-plan bathroom, which features a freestanding bathtub and double vanities. Each bedroom also boasts its own private bathroom and a 50-inch television.

Outside, expansive sun-drenched terraces are a destination in their own right. A hammock suspended over the water invites guests to gaze out at the lagoon, while a private pool offers an exclusive space for relaxation.

For a touch of fun, an 11-meter water slide provides direct access to the lagoon’s crystal-clear waters.

« Sun Siyam Vilu Reef is the resort where the Sun Siyam story began. This milestone is therefore particularly significant for us.

As we open a new chapter, our priority remains the same: creating exceptional experiences while preserving the warmth and hospitality that define our identity, » says Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Founder and Chairman of Sun Siyam. To introduce a new aesthetic signature to the resort, Sun Siyam collaborated with international interior design consultants Lee McNichol and Jose Rivero—founders and creative directors of the London-based Studio Sixty7—who spearheaded the transformation. The interiors are defined by a rich, elegant visual identity, where natural textures and delicate curves evoke the movement and serenity of the turquoise Maldivian waters.

« Studio Sixty7’s vision for these new luxury overwater villas in the Maldives is rooted in a balance between soothing minimalism and bold expression.

Walls clad in white wood panels create a bright, serene atmosphere, contrasting with a deep blue ceiling inspired by the surrounding ocean.

Arched ceiling details naturally guide the eye and movement through the space, echoing the soft, organic shapes of the bespoke furniture.

Integrated lighting subtly highlights the architecture while casting a warm glow.

Locally created artworks add depth and authenticity, anchoring the project in its Maldivian setting. The result is an immersive retreat and
