Smuggling : 5,000 liters of diesel seized during a raid in Perak

The Perak State Department of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) dealt a major blow to the black market in petroleum products by seizing 5,070 liters of subsidized diesel during a nighttime raid in Kampung Raja Hitam, near Ayer Tawar.

This large-scale operation, launched around 12:30 a.m. this morning, is the result of close collaboration between officers from the Manjung branch and the Maritime Police as part of the enhanced surveillance missions Tiris 4.0 and Jeriji.

The director of the KPDN, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, explained that the raided site—a lumber and hardware store—served as a clandestine hub where fuel was stored before being illegally resold to industrial clients at inflated prices.

During the raid, a suspect was caught red-handed transferring the precious liquid from a three-ton truck into intermediate bulk containers (IBCs).

The investigation revealed meticulous logistics: eight receipts seized at the scene proved that the individual made repeated and split purchases at a Sitiawan gas station to build up his stock without arousing the authorities’ suspicions.

This operation is part of a relentless national fight against the misappropriation of state subsidies, a practice that will weigh heavily on Malaysian public finances in 2026.
