What will be the most powerful passport in the world in 2025 ? It’s not the USA’s

The power of a passport primarily reflects a country’s diplomatic relations and its economic and political stability. Freedom of movement is also a factor : the sole criterion for this ranking is ultimately the overall mobility afforded to citizens.

The most powerful passport in the world in 2025 is that of Singapore, according to the Henley Passport Index.

The power of a passport is measured by the number of destinations its holders can visit without a prior visa (or with a visa obtained upon arrival).

Rank    Country                  Number of visa-free destinations (according to Henley Index)

1            Singapore                  193 destinations
2           South Korea            190 destinations
3           Japan                          189 destinations
4          Germany, Spain,
Italy, Luxembourg,
Switzerland.                           188 destinations

5          Austria, Belgium, Denmark,
Finland, France, Ireland,
187 destinations.

A logical dominance of Asia and Europe

Asian countries like Singapore and Japan, as well as members of the European Union (thanks in particular to the Schengen Area), traditionally dominate the top of the rankings.

The French passport, for example, remains in the world’s top 5, confirming the excellent mobility of its citizens.
