Our greatest pride

Considered the crown jewel and greatest technological achievement of modern China, the Fujian (Type 003) marks the People’s Liberation Army Navy’s resounding entry into the elite ranks of global naval aviation.

Unlike its predecessors, the Liaoning and the Shandong, which used outdated ski-jumps for aircraft takeoff, the Fujian is the first Chinese aircraft carrier—and the only one in the world outside the American Gerald R. Ford class—to be equipped with an electromagnetic catapult system (EMALS).

This engineering feat, which allows for the launch of heavier aircraft at a higher rate, gives Beijing an unprecedented power projection capability, able to deploy fifth-generation J-35 fighter jets and KJ-600 airborne early warning aircraft.

Displacing over 80,000 tons, this ocean giant is not only a coastal defense tool, but also the symbol of a transition to a « high seas » navy capable of challenging American supremacy in the Pacific.

The ship, which is completing its intensive sea trials in early 2026, also incorporates an integrated electric propulsion system and state-of-the-art electronically scanned radars, making it a veritable ultra-connected floating fortress.

For the Chinese people, the Fujian embodies the realization of the « Chinese Dream » and the end of historical humiliation at sea, propelling the country to the rank of undisputed maritime superpower.
