New twist in the singer’s inheritance saga

After suffering a crushing legal defeat in London’s High Court, Mitch Winehouse—father and estate administrator of the soul diva who passed away in 2011 at the age of 27—has been ordered to pay one million pounds sterling to two of his daughter’s close associates.

The case, which had pitted the star’s father against Naomi Parry (the artist’s former stylist) and her friend Catriona Gourlay for several months, centered on the auctioning of personal belongings of the « Rehab » singer—including handbags, ballet flats, earrings, and the famous dress she wore during her final concert in June 2011.

While Mitch Winehouse had sought nearly 836,000 euros from the two women, accusing them of unlawful appropriation, Judge Sarah Clarke dismissed his claims entirely. She confirmed that the defendants had not concealed anything and that the items had been gifted to them directly by the singer during her lifetime with the full knowledge and approval of those around her.

Having failed in all his claims—after attempting to invalidate these personal gifts on behalf of the estate—Amy Winehouse’s father saw his strategy backfire spectacularly; he has now been ordered to pay the full legal costs and compensation owed to the star’s two friends.
