New complications surrounding Chadwick Boseman’s estate

More than three years after the tragic death of the *Black Panther* star, a fierce legal battle is tearing Chadwick Boseman’s family apart following the filing of an official complaint in Los Angeles by his brothers, Derrick and Kevin Boseman. They are seeking to remove his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, from her role as administrator of the actor’s estate.
In a shocking public statement released on July 23, 2026, the actor’s family explained that they are acting under the direct authority of his parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman.
The parents have assigned their rights to a family entity (Boseman Family LLC) in an effort to shed light on the opaque management of the intellectual property and assets left behind by the star.
At the heart of the dispute, initiated on July 17, is the failure to comply with a distribution order dated October 4, 2022.
The family accuses Simone Ledward—who married the actor just days before his death in 2020 without a will being drawn up—of still failing to distribute the remaining shares or close the estate nearly four years later.
While the legal framework allocates 50% of the fortune to the widow and 25% to the artist’s parents, this legal action now aims to compel the former administrator to provide an accounting and immediately execute the official division of the income and royalties generated by Chadwick Boseman’s legacy.
