Meliá signs its first hotel in Corfu

Spanish hotel giant Meliá Hotels International is dramatically strengthening its presence in the Ionian Sea by sealing a strategic agreement to operate its seventh property in Greece, marking its debut on the highly sought-after island of Corfu.

Currently owned by the Concord Group and operated as the St Georges Bay Country Club & Spa, this charming property is set to welcome its first guests for the 2026 summer season under the transitional « Affiliated by Meliá » banner.

However, this initial opening is merely the first phase of a major transformation project; the complex will undergo a complete renovation after the season ends, paving the way for its 2027 launch under the prestigious luxury brand « The Meliá Collection Corfu »—a move that will also see it earn its fifth star.

This upscale repositioning will also include a significant architectural expansion, increasing the hotel’s capacity from its current 86 units to a total of 140 exceptional rooms and suites by 2028.
