The curtain has fallen on Mozambique’s Tourism Gala & Investment Forum 2026, which brought together a host of political leaders, investors, and economic operators in Nampula from June 3 to 6 around a crucial objective: to intensify inter-African cooperation to boost the continent’s attractiveness on the global stage.
Among the high-profile delegations, the Mauritian Minister Delegate for Tourism, Sydney Pierre, supported by High Commissioner Danielle Perrier, actively participated in discussions focused on global competitiveness, opening up access to isolated areas, and regional co-development.
Alternating strategic sessions and practical immersions, the forum took its delegates from the preserved ecosystem of the Montes Nairuco to the port of Nacala, culminating on the iconic Mozambique Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that served as the backdrop for the presentation of eleven major government projects targeting heritage hotels, maritime infrastructure, and ecotourism.
Faced with the sector’s structural challenges, participants unanimously advocated for a drastic improvement in air and sea connectivity, the sharing of technical expertise, and the creation of integrated multi-destination circuits.
While the quality of the organization, spearheaded by the Mozambican government, the province of Nampula, and Media Craft, was widely praised, Sydney Pierre, the spokesperson for Mauritian tourism, emphasized the absolute necessity of transforming the agreements in principle reached in Nampula into sustainable economic benefits. This already sets a new course for market players, as Mauritius will host the next edition of this summit in fourteen months.
