Cruises to the Emirates : MSC drops out

In a major announcement released on March 30, MSC Cruises confirmed the cancellation of its 2026-2027 winter season, initially planned for the Middle East aboard the MSC World Europa.

This flagship, powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), was originally scheduled to sail in the Persian Gulf between November 2026 and March 2027, departing from the United Arab Emirates and Qatar; it will now be redeployed to the French West Indies, marking its debut in the region.

By replacing the MSC Seaview in this sector, the cruise giant will offer a series of sunny seven- to fourteen-night cruises departing from Martinique and Guadeloupe, calling at popular destinations such as Saint Lucia, Grenada, Saint Maarten, Antigua, and Dominica.

This change of course allows the company to strengthen its presence in the Caribbean, one of the world’s most sought-after winter destinations, while offering a premium experience aboard one of its most modern and eco-friendly ships.

As a direct result of this fleet reshuffle, the MSC Seaview is being redeployed to South America, becoming the company’s fifth ship in the region, with new itineraries including Brazil and Argentina to be announced soon.

Regarding customer service, MSC Cruises is providing personalized support: passengers who booked in the Middle East are being contacted directly to obtain a full refund or reschedule their cruise, while those who booked in the Caribbean will see no changes to their dates or ports of call, as the Seaview’s upgrade to the World Europa constitutes an automatic upgrade.

The company emphasizes that this initiative reinforces its commitment to diversifying its global portfolio of destinations while adapting its capacity to fluctuations in the international market.

Finally, MSC has already announced its intention to return to the Persian Gulf for the 2027-2028 season, with the resumption of itineraries to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sir Bani Yas, Bahrain, and Doha, confirming that this withdrawal is only temporary in light of planning requirements for 2026.
