French hospitality giant Accor has reached a new strategic milestone in China with the official opening of the Financial City Chengdu – MGallery Collection, located in the heart of the metropolis’s financial district.
This new property—featuring 155 rooms and suites designed by the Australian firm Stack Studio as a tribute to Tang Dynasty culture, and equipped with 480 m² of event space, dining facilities, a gym, and a panoramic rooftop (« Sky Garden »), all while incorporating an eco-friendly design focused on energy efficiency and a zero-single-use-plastic policy—marks the brand’s tenth location in the country and its third in Chengdu.
Representing a key market—with over 230 operational properties and 140 projects in development across China—the region is central to Accor’s expansion plan. The group aims to double its MGallery portfolio in Greater China by 2030 through future openings in Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Sanya, Pujiang, and Lanxi. As Kent Zhu, CEO of Accor China, noted, this rollout responds to the combined growth of leisure and business travel in these major economic hubs, while strengthening the global footprint of the MGallery Collection—a network that already comprises over 120 hotels across 40 countries and is preparing for new international openings, notably in the Maldives and Phuket.
