Defeated last night by Morocco in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon believes it should have been awarded a penalty after a foul on Bryan Mbeumo.
Morocco delivered a complete performance against Cameroon, securing a deserved victory and advancing to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (2-0), which was being held on home soil.
Thanks to goals from the ever-reliable Brahim Diaz and Saibari, the Atlas Lions caused a sensation in Rabat, but one particular incident particularly displeased the Cameroonians.
In the 70th minute, shortly before Morocco’s second goal, Manchester United striker Bryan Mbeumo was injured in a challenge with Adam Masina.
However, the referee, Mauritanian Dahane Beida, allowed play to continue and therefore did not whistle for a foul.
This situation was widely discussed and particularly angered the Cameroonians after the match.
Moreover, according to some media outlets, it seems that the Moroccan Football Federation requested a change of referee before their Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final against Cameroon on Friday, January 9 (8 p.m.), and their request was granted.
This reversal has sparked controversy. Having failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, Cameroon must now prepare for the future, aiming to once again become one of the top African nations.
